The patient can also request to have shorter sessions rather than longer ones which should also cut down on the pain problem. If large areas are to be treated, this is probably the best thing to do to allow recovery between treatments.

After the treatment, the patient may look a little red and swollen but this should go down very quickly if ice is applied to the affected area for a few minutes at a time.
